Pakistan Dismisses India's Claims on Kashmir Status Amid UN Resolution Debate

In a firm rebuttal to India's assertions regarding the status of Kashmir, Pakistan's Foreign Office declared on Monday that India's claims are unfounded and do not influence the internationally recognized disputed status of the region.
The remarks came after a recent United Nations resolution, supported by 164 nations including India, aimed at creating a more representative global map. However, India's Ministry of External Affairs maintained that the resolution does not endorse any specific geographical representation and insisted on adherence to its official map that includes Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Sajjad Haider Khan, spokesperson for the Foreign Office, emphasized that India’s ongoing occupation and unilateral actions do not alter the fact that the Kashmir issue remains one of the oldest unresolved disputes on the UN Security Council's agenda. He highlighted that the official UN maps categorically depict Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, asserting that Pakistan rejects India's claims entirely.
Pakistan urged the international community to intervene and address human rights violations occurring in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for the realization of the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination through a fair plebiscite under UN supervision. The Foreign Office's statements underscore the ongoing tensions surrounding the Kashmir issue and the need for a resolution that reflects the will of the Kashmiri people.
