In a decisive move against terrorism, security forces in Balochistan have killed 11 terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the Kharan and Washuk districts. The operations, which took place on September 6 and 7, were carried out in response to reports of terrorist activity allegedly backed by Indian interests, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s operations began in Kharan, where terrorists attempted to disrupt local traffic by setting up a roadblock. Swift action from security forces led to the deaths of eight terrorists during an intense engagement. Following this, another operation in Washuk successfully neutralized three additional terrorists at a hideout that was discovered during the IBO.
Seizures and Ongoing Operations
During the Washuk operation, security forces recovered a significant cache of 2.9 tonnes of explosives, believed to be intended for constructing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). ISPR stated that security forces are continuing sanitization efforts in the region to eliminate any remaining threats posed by foreign-sponsored terrorism.
Government Officials Praise Security Forces
In the wake of these operations, both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their gratitude to the security forces. President Zardari emphasized that the ongoing threats from terrorists with Indian backing would be met with unwavering resistance. PM Shehbaz commended the forces for their professionalism and pledged that efforts to eradicate terrorism under Indian influence would persist.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also voiced his support, highlighting the bravery of the security personnel who are dedicated to the fight against terrorism. He noted that the nation's pride rests with these brave souls standing firm in the face of adversity.
